Daring Bakers' April Challenge: Armenian Nazook

When this post gets published I will already be in Germany with my friends from college!!! I really need a few days off, so forgive me if I don't visit the blogs I follow for some days, I probably won't have Internet access until Tuesday!!

The Daring Bakers' April challenge, hosted by Jason at Daily Candor, were two Armenian standards: nazook and nutmeg cake. Nazook is a layered yeasted dough pastry with a sweet filling, and nutmeg cake is a fragrant, nutty coffee-style cake.

We had to choose one or both but as I didn't have much time I ended up doing the Nazook as it sounded more challenging. I know I say this all the time but I love being in Daring Bakers and in TWD, I always discover great things that I would probably never hear about if it wasn't for them.

I have no idea if the taste was like it should be. But it was delicious. The only change I made was that I put less filling than the recipe said as I thought it wasn't necessary.

I made half of the recipe as I thought 40 Nazooks would be too much. I was wrong. Less than 24 hours after baking them they were gone, completely.

If you get a chance, do try this recipe. It's really good!!! You can see the recipe here.

  12. Nazook - I love the name, but have never heard of it before nor tried it. It looks similar to a cinnamon roll and I bet was delicious.
